Volcanic Earth Basing Paste is perfect for creating lava fields, volcanic mountains, scorched wastelands and hostile alien worlds on miniature bases. Its realistic texture makes it an excellent choice for fantasy armies, demons, dragons, fire creatures and science fiction miniatures fighting across harsh volcanic landscapes. It also works beautifully as the foundation for lava effects, creating dramatic contrasts between cooled rock and molten earth.

How to apply

Apply AK Interactive Volcanic Earth Basing Paste directly from the pot using a sculpting tool, spatula or an old brush. Spread the paste evenly across the miniature base while shaping the terrain before it begins to dry. For even more realistic volcanic scenery, carve shallow grooves into the paste while it is still fresh and fill them later with lava effects to recreate flowing molten rock. The product performs equally well in thin and thicker layers and can be thinned with water or an acrylic thinner if required. Allow approximately 6 hours for the basing paste to dry completely before applying additional weathering products or scenic details.

Tips for the best results

Volcanic landscapes become most convincing when different textures and colours are combined. Highlight the raised areas with light grey drybrushing to recreate volcanic ash, then add lava effects in the carved channels to simulate glowing molten rock.
