When should you use Stirred Earth?

Splatter Effects Stirred Earth is ideal for creating the look of recently disturbed soil on battlefields, muddy roads, construction areas and natural landscapes. Apply it around vehicle tracks, wheels, lower hulls, trench systems or miniature bases to recreate the appearance of freshly turned earth. The darker earth tone works particularly well in damp environments and helps create natural contrast when combined with lighter dust or dry ground effects.

How to apply

AK Interactive Splatter Effects Stirred Earth is supplied ready to use. Apply it directly with a brush to the areas where freshly disturbed soil would naturally collect, or create realistic splatter effects by flicking the product from the bristles of a stiff brush. For larger and more random splashes, direct the airflow of an airbrush across the loaded brush to project the material onto your model. If required, the product can be thinned slightly with water or an acrylic thinner before application. Build the effect gradually in several thin layers until the desired level of weathering has been achieved.

Tips for the best results

Freshly disturbed earth is rarely uniform in colour or texture. Concentrate the effect around areas where vehicles, machinery or foot traffic would naturally displace the ground, leaving lighter weathering on surrounding surfaces.
