AK-Interactive Panel Liner Dark Rust

The AK Interactive Panel Liner – Dark Rust is an enamel wash for adding darker rust tones and corrosion effects to scale models, miniatures and terrain. Its deep reddish-brown colour works particularly well around exposed metal, damaged paint, bolts, weld seams and other areas where you want to represent older or more developed rust.

The thin consistency allows the liner to flow into recessed details and around raised elements through capillary action. This makes it useful for adding controlled rust colour to tracks, armour, machinery, industrial surfaces and weathered terrain without having to cover the entire surrounding area.

Dark Rust can be used on its own or combined with lighter rust tones to create more variation in corroded surfaces. Use it for the darker areas of a rust effect, then introduce lighter colours where you want fresher oxidation or additional contrast.

How to use

Apply the Panel Liner over a gloss or satin varnished surface. Shake the bottle thoroughly, then introduce a small amount around panel lines, joints, bolts, welds and exposed metal details with a fine brush. Allow capillary action to distribute the liner and remove or soften excess with a brush or cotton swab lightly dampened with enamel thinner.

Build the effect gradually when creating heavier corrosion. Combining Dark Rust with lighter rust colours can help create more depth than using a single rust colour across the entire surface.
