When should you use Concrete Basing Paste?

Its realistic concrete texture makes it an excellent choice for science fiction armies, modern warfare miniatures and post-apocalyptic survivors. It also works well as a clean foundation for weathering techniques such as cracks, rust, dust and oil stains.

How to apply

Apply AK Interactive Concrete Basing Paste directly from the pot using a sculpting tool, spatula or an old brush. Spread the paste evenly across the miniature base and shape the surface while it remains workable. The product can be applied in both thin and thicker layers and may be thinned with water or an acrylic thinner if required. Allow approximately 6 hours for the basing paste to dry completely before applying paints, pigments or additional weathering products.

Tips for the best results

Concrete surfaces become far more convincing when subtle weathering is added after the paste has cured. Apply washes to emphasise joints and recesses, then finish the base with pigments, rust streaks or scattered debris to recreate years of wear and exposure. Small details such as tufts growing through cracks or broken masonry will add even more realism to urban-themed bases.
