When should you use Asphalt Basing Paste?

Asphalt Basing Paste is perfect for creating city streets, industrial zones, military compounds and post-apocalyptic environments on miniature bases. Its realistic asphalt texture makes it an excellent choice for science fiction armies, modern warfare miniatures, zombies, superheroes and urban-themed display pieces. It also provides an ideal surface for adding road markings, cracks, oil stains or weathering effects.

How to apply

Apply AK Interactive Asphalt Basing Paste directly from the pot using a sculpting tool, spatula or an old brush. Spread the paste evenly across the miniature base while shaping the surface before it begins to dry. The product performs equally well in thin and thicker applications and can be thinned with water or an acrylic thinner if required. Allow approximately 6 hours for the basing paste to cure completely before adding paints, pigments or further weathering effects.

Tips for the best results

Real asphalt rarely looks perfectly clean. After the basing paste has cured, apply washes, pigments or weathering products to recreate dust, tyre marks, cracks or worn road surfaces. Small details such as tufts growing through broken asphalt, scattered rubble or painted road markings help create a far more convincing urban base.
